October Apples

Jonathan Apple:

  1. Cider makers wouldn’t be without it.  The tangy juice adds just the right sparkle.  Great for eating and pies too.  Has what I call a bite.

Yellow Delicious Apple:

Melrose Apple:

Northwestern Greening Apple:

  1. One of the few self-fruitful apples.  Yellow thin skin, crisp texture and tangy taste. Excellent for pies and sauce with little or no sugar added.  It’s also one of the best pollinators for other varieties.

  1. A Jonathan cross with Red Delicious.  An excellent variety for fresh eating, cooking and cider making. Large fruit with super flavor that has just the right balance of sugary sweet and tart.  Stores well

  1. A popular old winter variety. Excellent cooking especially for pies.  Large smooth green fruit turns yellow when ripe.  The closes we can come to Granny Smith in Wisconsin.
